STOP BULLYING

you suck! if you think that by belittling, picking on, pushing, teasing, beating, chasing, kicking and/or otherwise making others feel less than, makes you fly guy, numero uno, that dude, top b*tch, etc-----somebody lied. you, without a shadow of a doubt, are what i like to refer to as 'suckas!' you are in need of therapy. you are in need of a hug. you are in need!

it hurts to hear of yet another suicide story of a young one because of bullying!!!!! it hurts! it hurts! it hurts! it hurts! it hurts! it hurts!

yes, kids will be kids and tease and taunt but, clearly, it has reached another level of 'torture.' today, the pushing evident in bullying is pushing kids to kill themselves. Enough is enough! Another life lost.....
STOP IT!!!!!!!!!

I was bullied.
I was picked on.
hell, if it wasn't my lips, it was my clothes and if not that, then it was my weight.....
I understood that I was more.
and, so are you!!!
you are so much more!!!
*cyber hugs to all*
you are more than the verbal/physical sticks and stones people hurl. you are more!! you are worth more!! you are worth more!! you are worth more!!
you, just the way you are, deserve more!
you're beautiful and divinely made and uniquely gifted and bountifully loved.

*sigh* how can i help?
i wanna help!
i will help!

For The Love of Harlem

The musical, FOR THE LOVE OF HARLEM, written & scored by Jermaine Nakia Lee, is a musical sensation profiling the lives of some of the brightest artistic visionaries of the Harlem Renaissance from Langston Hughes to Alberta Hunter. This period is referred to as the 1920’s – 30’s Harlem Renaissance (also known as the Black Literary Renaissance and the New Negro Movement). Nestled in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, this movement impacted the entire cultural spectrum; literature, drama, music, visual art, and dance. The Movement afforded unique ways to explore the historic struggles of Black America and the contemporary relevance of Black life in the urban North. FOR THE LOVE OF HARLEM celebrates the courage, achievement, frailty and hardship of these creative ones; whose artistic contributions have had profound impact not only on African-American culture but redefined how America, and the world, views the African-American. FOR THE LOVE OF HARLEM takes us on a musical journey that shadows these brave artists who refused to be inauthentic, no matter what the Black public or White public thought.

Vita, Vita, Vita

remember this?
yooooo son, when this came out,
i was on one.....

*kidding! and, just for the record, please don't ever use lame phrases such as 'yoooo son' and 'on one!' leave that for the 'rapper dudes.'

breaking point

defined as the moment just before one goes crazy, off the deep end.....
i think and know that a lot of my creative comrades are quickly approaching 'the land of cray'.....
to them, i say, continue to place one foot in front of the other and keep going.....
shit will break!
breaking point!

often seen and viewed as a hobby or extracurricular activity, we, with creative careers, are often the butt of 'real job' jokes.....
to those comedians, i say, i'm about to break my foot off in your rotund rear!
breaking point!

we all aren't meant to be regular.
some of us choose to chase our sunshine.

Not Guilty Y'all Got to Feel Me

Lawd! but 4 charges?
Really? 4?
'Yes,' the female officer said.....
I do have a lead foot so ok, speeding--check!
oh yeh, that has gotten me into trouble before that's why my suspended-license isn't any longer in my possession--check! *it hurt to hand it over*
and i happened to be driving a vehicle whose tag and registration was expired!!!!! i quit!
4 charges!

*maybe i shouldn't 'air out' my ugly on a blog but then again, it is my blog. good, bad and the ugly is needed and shared!*

in other news.....
i'm in need of a manicure *sigh*

Charlotte Seen Fashion Week: A Recap

Charlotte Seen Fashion Week is officially over and if you
weren't able to be in attendance, you missed out on.....
networking, and, of course, fashion! fashion! fashion!

The week took shape at the Ritz-Cartlon where Charlotte's fashion-crazed mixed and mingled.

Tuesday it went down at Del Frisco's where I had the opportunity to style models, showcasing decade fashions. With a range of styles present, everything from the Roman Soldier to Lady Gaga was represented.
(i'll try to locate pics for you)
(ps. don't judge me! no, i wasn't dressed---my tummy wasn't happy and i tried to remain behind the scenes but.....Reign got me)

Let's see now, on Wednesday, where were we?
Vivace's for Meet the Designers, Meet the Talent!
Here, attendees were able to converse with those that essentially are the phenomenon in which we call, Charlotte Seen Fashion Week. And, they came out in droves to support!

LET THE SHOWS BEGIN!!!!!

Emerging Designers: Thursday
My niece, Damali walked for Fashenelle.....

(hanging out backstage before the show)

RE-MODEL Show: Friday
Damali modeled again.....but this time she wore my creation of cotton balls and magazine tears!

(believe me when i tell you that i was stapling her outfit up until we walked onto stage! yeh, paper doesn't really work well---if you didn't know, it tears)
BUT.....WE WORKED IT OUT!!

Then......I was off to Su Casa to 'jam on it' a little bit! Between me and you, I really want to learn how to break!! Ma'an, the music was live and my 2-step was a little played.....but you know, we work what we can ladies!! :)
And, I got my face-painted..... *happy dance*

Fashion Designers and Miles of Impact Show: Friday

ok, please listen when I tell you that I am NOT a runway model but somehow, I was convinced to get on stage during the Miles of Impact Show and walk with other local celebrities..... Luckily, my anxiety turned into some state of 'calm' when I hit the stage----I think it's the lights that transport you into another space..... oh well! Wearing garments from the Dressing Room, I walked-----and even did a little dance on the runway..... owwwwww!!

(shouts to CQDpie_MUA for makeup!! follow her on twitter!)

THE END.....

and the beat goes.....

it goes without saying that i have a thing for artists.
succinctly, my heart beats for those that spit their 'heart' over beats. it's something about seeing 'him' create, zone out and allow 'his' gift, 'his' art to shine.
that, to me, is sexy. it's passion. it's purpose.
it makes sense.
and, the beat goes.....

generally speaking, artists understand each other. the quirks, the hangups, the need to express, the fire, the setbacks,
the frustration, the rise.
too, there's also a comfort in knowing and respecting each other's continuous grind. truth be told, you can't pay bills daydreaming and/or otherwise swimming in stagnancy; you gotta get up, get out and get something before you're forgotten and marked as invalid/void.

i guess what i'm saying is.....
and, it don't stop!
i got your back, you got mine's.....
and, the beat goes.....

and, to keep it all the way funky--i'm talking hendrix-acid-tripping-funky.....
sometimes, our playlist is music to my ears and, at times, a cacophony of blues but.....
let's sing and dance while we arrange our new set of dope tunes.....

whether we're a one-hit wonder or in the game for seven summers,
don't be scared, push play.....
be responsible, let's 'rap' it up.....

***lol....does this sh*t even make sense? i swear, my mind. ***

Assorted Flavors Part One

Charlotte Fashion Week: Re-Model Designers

Re-Model Designers will wow the audiences on Friday, September 23rd with their atypical arrangements. You see, the whole purpose of the re-model show is to create garments from unconventional materials....as in, anything but fabric. Exciting right? I thought so!

Make sure you're present to experience it all.....
