One Step Closer: Jocelyn Ellis
It was quite an honor and experience to work with Jocelyn and BIM for 'One Step Closer!'
The Ethan & Zoey team came together and styled the hell out of this video.
I had the opportunity to construct Jocelyn's entire wardrobe--sewing leather strips, deconstructing here and there, as well as adding the gold spikes to her sneakers. To say, it was an incredible experience wouldn't be accurate. To say, the entire BIM team is professional and about making art happen, wouldn't be sufficient.
We ALL put in the work and magic was made.....

ERIC CHURCH: HOMEBOY
first time hearing this song was about a week ago and i was slightly offended by the first verse as people often have the wrong idea of hip hop's version of a 'homeboy.' more, some people clump everyone with a tattoo or 'fronts' into a category synonymous with 'troublemaker.' not the case! #thatisall
now that i've cleared any misconceptions.....i dig the song and where it takes the listener :)
jukebox for a brain
any given moment, i'll experience an outburst. and, it usually displays itself in the form of a remixed version of someone's track. yep, i don't claim to know every song but i am pretty good at 'filling in' where needed :)
but i digress, music is my alarm clock and my night cap. it turns me on and off with it's nasty, funky, deep rhythms, melodies and lyrics. my mouth explodes when a good one lands in my head--everyone has to hear, of course. and, so i share.
i have a jukebox for a brain.
and, it doesn't need change for it to change. one minute, salt & pepa, the next, kool & the gang. one minute, nas, the next, arrested development. one minute, bilal, the next, keyshia cole. one minute, johnny cash, the next, maroon 5. one minute, billie holiday, the next, mc hammer.

talked myself in a circle
i often have moments where i just want to scream and shout. scream and shout, f*ck it! f*ck it, why not?
torn between what i love and 'the box'--well, kinda sorta. kinda sorta because the life of a frustrated artist is not popping. not popping because some people view it as extracurricular and optional--your craft, that is. that is pure bullsh*t in its purest form. in its purest form, art is multidemensional expression. expression that wants, needs, longs to be expressed and, if necessary, shoved in the faces of those that don't get it. don't get what? what don't you get? get that this right here, what i do, what people like me do is natural. natural as the air we inhale, exhale over and over again. over and over again, i have to remind people that i am, that artists are not meant to be boxed in, contained. contained? the only thing i'm trying to contain is my potty mouth because at this moment, i just want to scream and shout. scream and shout, f*ck it! f*ck it, why not?

Far from being ‘dark,’ this event, via music, theatrics, subtle humor and outright seriousness, pinpoints the connective experiences that bind us all.
